As the cloud expands, so do GigaOM and their conferences. Structure is GigaOM's annual cloud computing event, and they were looking to expand to Europe in 2012. Amsterdam was chosen to host the very first Structure:Europe on October 15 and 16. I helped the team from Magnify Communications in the run-up and during the conference itself by checking all locally printed materials, hiring and managing staff, and more.
DrupalJams have been the Netherlands' official Drupal conferences since a few community members started it as an unconference in 2007. After being a member of the Drupal community for two years, I organized my first DrupalJam in 2009. Over the years, I helped make the conferences grow from small-scale meetings to professional conferences with almost 300 attendees.
Working with Bart was a pleasure. There was a natural separation *and* combing of forces between him and me that made organising a conference for nearly 300 attendees, the 6th edition of the DrupalJam, easy and without pain. Bart always delivered, always on time and was dedicated in doing so.

Puppet Camp 2011
The community is what matters, according to Puppet Labs, and that was clearly visible during Puppet Camp 2011 in Amsterdam. I supported Puppet Labs in setting up the conference in the beautiful Beurs van Berlage, which once housed the world's oldest stock exchange. This time, in contrast, it accommodated a gathering of experts in one of the most modern technologies.
I was responsible for operational tasks, such as venue scouting, accomodation, catering, logistics and organizing the official afterparty. In collaboration with Puppet Labs themselves, I made all the necessary arrangements for the conference, as well as its attendees. Because the event's focus lies on the community, special attention was given to providing enough opportunities for the attendees to socialize between and after all official daytime activities, with an official party (which was a Puppet Camp first) as grande finale.
Hoe krijg ik wat ik wil?
Hoe krijg ik wat ik wil? was the 2012 edition of S.v. Communiqué's yearly academic conference about communications. This year's conference featured keynotes and workshops about persuasive face to face communication, as well as a post-conference networking event.
My work involved arranging the different venues, catering, speaker accommodation and facilities, and building and maintaining the conference's official website and attendee registration. During the conference, I was responsible for coordinating personnel and volunteers, and helping speakers prepare for their sessions.
